prints & more

All of my prints are drawn, carved, and printed by hand in my small home studio in San Francisco, California. By being hand-burnished, each print is unique with its own signs of texture- just like a fingerprint. While I have fallen in love with printmaking, I still work with a variety of mediums ranging from acrylic paints to pen & ink drawings.

Remarkable Raptors

The word raptor is derived from the Latin word rapere, which means “to seize”. Raptors (who are also called birds of prey) are carnivorous birds that have hooked beaks, sharp talons, and keen eyesight. There are approximately 482 species of raptor worldwide, 304 diurnal (active during the day) species and 178 nocturnal (active at night) species. This series focuses on some remarkable raptor species that are found throughout North America.

West Coast Wonders

Carrion Committee

Vultures hold an incredibly crucial role in maintaining a healthy balance in our ecosystems: they are nature’s professional clean-up crew and the champions of leftovers. While they are not often considered attractive birds by modern media, this series focuses on the 3 vultures found within the United States: the Turkey vulture, the Black vulture, & the California condor.

Southern Staples

In honor of this artist’s Southern roots, this gallery includes prints that focus on classic southern wildlife. The Southeastern U.S. is one of the most biodiverse temperate regions in the world- but, a large portion of the Southeast’s biodiversity is not formally protected. This region’s biodiversity can be saved- but only if we can learn to appreciate & value it.

BarkBeetleSeries_ft.Shakes.jpg

Bark beetles earn their name from their habit of mining, living, and reproducing between the bark of a tree and the wood itself. This series focuses on the three genera in the family Curculionidae: Dendroctonus, Scolytus, and Ips. The gallery patterns created by bark beetles are distinct and are unique to each genus and beetle species. This hand-carved & hand-pressed blockprint series highlights the beauty and intricacies of these unassuming beetles.

“ Namesake”print collection

Often simply referred to as a possum, the Virginia opossum (Didelphis virginiana) is the only marsupial found north of Mexico. Since first being described in 1608 by Capt. John Smith as having “a head like a Swine, and a taile like a Rat, and is of the bines of a Cat. Under her belly she hath a bagge, wherein she lodgeth, carrieth, and sucketh her young”, the Virginia opossum has fascinated scientists and remains one of the most misunderstood mammals native to the United States. This print series celebrates the beauty in this creatures unique appearance and highlights their invaluable role in our environment.
